How frequently should I schedule a massage?

This is a difficult question to answer as there are many factors that contribute to the amount of massage your body needs and the frequency to which you need massage.  Often with chronic pain and/or injury you will need to get massage weekly or twice a week for 4 to 6 sessions, to see noticeable change in area.  Followed by a reassessment and more time between sessions as needed.  Generally if you seek to maintain your body as is, monthly massage is  recommend.   Every body is different and every body has different response to massage.  Also the more you do for yourself in between sessions the less frequently your body will need massage to maintain the changes massage provides.  After every session I will give you a recommended massage plan and aid you to figure out what schedule works best for you.

How long should my massage be?

That depends on what you want to accomplish.  If you are working on injury healing, increasing mobility, or making progress on a pain area and seeking a full body massage, 90 minute to 2 hour massage is best.  If you are looking to maintain current well being, or find relaxation and relief of mild stress or tension a one-hour massage will be enough time.  I HIGHLY recommend booking a 90 minute massage for your first session as this generally provides enough time to address one to two problem areas and receive a full body session.

How early before my massage should I arrive?

Please arrive between 5 and 15 minutes before your massage time.  If you arrive earlier you may need to wait outside as I am not always at the space more than 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled massage time.

What should I wear for a Thai Massage session?

Please wear loose fitting clothing that covers your legs (and arms if you tend to run cold).  Yoga pants, Thai pants, or sweat pants are great options.  A good option is a short sleeved shirt with a long sleeved over it for the winter months so as you warm up a layer can be taken off if needed.

What should I wear or not wear for a Therapeutic Massage session?

Therapeutic massage sessions typically use oil on skin. Areas that are not being worked on will be covered with a sheet (and often a light blanket) to maintain warmth in the body.  Also, private areas of the body will always be covered and respected. If you are comfortable with being fully nude for sessions, while I am out of the room, you may remove all of your clothing and lay under the sheet.  If you prefer to keep underwear on please keep them on.  Also you may choose to keep on other clothing during your session, however if you feel more comfortable being fully clothed, receiving a Thai Massage may be better suited to your body.  Feel free at anytime to discuss options for your own privacy and comfort.

I made it to Ivy Building, but where is the massage space?

The massage space is located upstairs and toward the back of the building. Follow pink signs to my studio and reread your confirmation email with directions. If you have trouble finding it, call me.  612 642 1763.
